Number Chart

The Number Chart displays a single value, be it a number or decimal. Number Charts measure only one single field in Measures which can be filtered by any other field in Filter by. By adding a dynamic time filter to your chart you have the option to compare the current number to its previous period value or you can simply add a custom target value such as your budget number.

Create a periodic Number Chart with a Trend Indicator

  1. Open the Chart Creator with a click on Analyze in the upper navigation bar.
  2. Select Number as chart typefrom the dropdown menuin the tool bar.
  3. Drag and drop the field you wish to measure into the  Y-Axis area. We have chosen the Profit field from the Product table from our demo database in the screenshot above and changed the aggregation type to sum in order to get the total sum of profits.
  4. To limit the result set add a date field or another field to the Filter by area. We’ve added the Sales Date to the filter and set the observation period from static to dynamic in the field editor on the right side of the screen.
  5. Open the Number Options by clicking on the gear wheel icon in the right upper corner of the chart preview.
  6. At the bottom of the Number Options you can now define a target value for your Number Chart. Below Target Value you may either use the Custom Value or the Previous Period to define a static threshold or rather a dynamic target.
  7. You can finally decide whether you wish to display the change of your current value to the previous period as percentage or absolute value. If desired you can also add a trend indicator.
