Switch Data Storage Location

Once you have connected your database, you can choose to edit some parameters as well as to change the storage location of your data if necessary. The following steps demonstrate how to change the storage location of your database from remote connection to our data warehouse or back from the data warehouse to a remote connection.

Switch from remote connection to data warehouse

1) Go to Connect.

2) Search for your database and click on Edit on the right side of the data source widget.

3) In Setup, change the data storage location from remote to data warehouse by selecting the option Transfer data to our data warehouse.

4) Click on Save. A notification appears. Insert your login password and click on Ok if you estimate that the extraction will not interfere with other users. This will start the extraction process and you will be redirected to the data transfer page. Once the extraction was successful you will get notified.

Caution: Moving the data storage to data warehouse might take a while and users won’t be able to use datapine during the extraction. You might want to check with your organization users which time is best to move the storage location of your data.

Caution: Please note that a switch from data warehouse to remote connection might have a significant impact on loading performance and you should make sure that your server can handle these requests. However, we always recommend to never setup a remote connection to a production server as this might lead to severe performance issues.
