Dashboard Filter

Dashboard filters are a great way to add interactivity to your dashboard and allow the people that you share your dashboard with to independently create views that will answer their specific questions. Filters also allow you to get more insight into your data on your dashboard.

Datapine offers two main types of filter, these are;

1. THE GLOBAL FILTER PANEL

The global filter panel will be visible on the right side of your dashboard if you click on the SHOW FILTERS button in the upper right corner. Learn more about how to use the global filter panel by clicking here. You can learn how to add a new filter and the various types of filters that datapine offers.

The global filter panel gives your viewers predefined filter options that affect the data displayed on the dashboard. These filters are grouped into categories that you assign, and the filter values can then be individually activated and deactivated.

2. CLICK-TO-FILTER FUNCTION

Alternatively, you can directly use the results on your dashboard as filter values by enabling the Click-to-Filter option for specific charts (also known as Quick Filters). This means that users can select values that are already in a chart visualization and filter the dashboard according to this particular value. The entire dashboard will then adjust accordingly to show data with the selected parameter.

A great example of a good time to use the Click-to-Filter option is when you are displaying your data on a map chart, with the Click-to-Filter enabled, a user can click on a country directly on the map and the dashboard will filter to display data of that country.

You can also apply more than one quick filter at a time, this is a particularly useful aspect of quick filters as it can then give a more precise view of your data filtered on just the defined parameters.
